2008

BRITISH GOLDEN BELT KICKBOXING CHAMPION SCOTT "TOO HOT" GIBSON WINS HIS 8th K1 FIGHT
AS WELL AS BEING THE PROFESSIONAL BRITISH KICKBOXING CHAMPION SCOTT FOUGHT K1 ON THE 18th JULY.
SCOTT WON HIS FIGHT AND IS NOW UNBEATEN IN 8 K1 FIGHTS. SOMETIME LATER THIS YEAR SCOTT
WILL FIGHT FOR A K1 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AT THE HOTEL METREPOLE IN BRIGHTON.
K1 IS SIMILAR TO KICKBOXING, HOWEVER UNLIKE KICKBOXING IT ALLOWS, THROWS, LOW KICKS
TO THE LEGS. AND KNEE STRIKES TO ANYWHERE OF THE BODY EXCEPT TO THE GROIN OR BACK.
K1 ROUNDS ARE FOR 3 MINUTES UNLIKE 2 MINUTE ROUNDS OF KICKBOXING
THEREFORE A K1 FIGHTER NEEDS A LOT MORE STAMINA AND ENDURANCE THAN IN KICKBOXING
AS FOR SCOTT'S KICKBOXING FUTURE, HE WILL CHALLENGE FOR A EUROPEAN TITLE AT THE END OF THE YEAR
ALSO FIGHTING FOR SAMA ON THE SHOW WAS REMZI MEHMET (PIC LEFT) AND MATTEO AGUGIARO (PIC RIGHT).

don't let the KIDS miss out!!

Scott "TOO HOT" Gibson
THE CURRENT BRITISH GOLDEN BELT
PROFESSIONAL LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
Successfully Defends his Title
At Hove Town Hall East Sussex On 12th April 2008
Scott was due to fight former champion Luke Sine's, however Sine's pulled out before the fight and
the promoter had to quickly find another suitable challenger.Matt Martin from Western Super-Mere
came forward to challenge Scott for his Title. At 6ft 2in Martin a former boxer and English kickboxing
champion with many years of experience, also being a former contender for the European IKF Title
Martin was clearly the man for the job. From the very start of the bell Martin was clearly out to grab
the Title away from Scott. Martin's plan seemed to be to attack Scott throughout the whole 7 rounds
of the fight, however I believe that Martin was surprised at Scott's power and stamina.
At times Scott stood toe to toe with Martin hitting him with some heavy punches and kicks where upon
Martin received a standing count in round two. This was a 7 x 2 minute round fight and although Martin's
past history showed that he was a dangerous and very experienced opponent Scott was told not to try
and knock Martin out and to go the whole 7 rounds. Our game plan was to build up Scott's stamina and
endurance as he is due to fight again in 2 weeks time at a K1 event at the same venue. This I can assure
you is no easy task and takes a lot of discipline for someone like Scott especially when he felt he had the
opportunity to do this a few times during the fight.
K1 kickboxing is 5 x 3 minute rounds that allows knee strikes and leg kicks, also you are allowed to grab
your opponent, wrestle and throw him down to the canvas. This sort of fighting especially over 3 minutes
per round compared to kickboxing's 2 minute rounds where you are only allowed to kick above the waist and
punch demands a tremendous amount of stamina, endurance and strength.
Although this was still an important fight for Scott and although I was told that Scott one every single round,
fighting Martin for the whole 7 rounds clearly helped Scott in his preparation for his K1 fight. Scott has won
all of his K1 fights and if he wins this one the next stop for Scott is a K1 Title shot and then hopefully a
European Kickboxing Title at the end of the year.
WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY CONGATULATIONS SCOTT
AND WELL DONE TO A GREAT SAMA FIGHTER
